Pixel Power UP
Life isn’t all about running around outside on sunny days, kicking footballs, playing tag and climbing trees. Sometimes it’s about delivering a knuckle sandwich to
the hungry monster’s face hole. Or walking into a dungeon as a Lv.1 adventurer, and grinding until you return a Lv.50 warrior with a real sick death punch. So, that’s why Kids Corner now has a video games section, and we’re going to start things off with Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix.
Kingdom Hearts was originally released over ten years ago for the Playstation 2, as a collaboration between Disney and the creators of the Final Fantasy series, Square Enix. As a result, it’s full to the brim with all your favourite characters. You play as Sora (the spiky haired happy dude on the right), who is plucked from his sunny island home by a mysterious evil force when his world is destroyed, losing his friends in the process. Sora is then dumped on a different planet where he meets Donald and Goofy, and together the trio set out on their journey, travelling the cosmos in search of their missing friends.
While flying across space, you get to meet a super star cast of peeps, from The Little Mermaid and Peter Pan, to Cloud Strife and Sephiroth.
But what about the game play? Well, this is basically a revamp of an old game, but that doesn’t mean it’s all pixelated and crumby. It’s been re- rendered in HD and can still hold it’s own with today’s game standard. The battle system is easy to use and tough to master. Your main weapon is a key-blade which you use to smash the hope out of hordes of enemies. You also get a host of magic spells, which you can use to attack your enemies or defend and heal yourself. Donald and Goofy form the rest of your party and fly around the battle zone on autopilot, helping you stomp down the enemy.
In addition, the original Kingdom Hearts game 1.5 remix also comes with two bonus games Re:Chain of Memories, a 3D turn based game with a playing card style battle system, and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. Sadly, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days isn’t playable, only watchable, and acts more like a movie with cut-scenes. Nonetheless, if you haven’t played this game yet it’s definitely worth putting it on your wish list, as you get a lot of game play for your well-earned pocket money. Also, Kingdom Hearts 2.5 Remix has just been announced for release later this year and this game is a must play if you’re a fan of following intricate story lines.
