Lastly, our staff team has grown as we welcomed Mrs Nash, Ms Brushneen, Mrs Mansfield and Mrs Taylor, who have all joined our team of teaching assistants and midday supervisors. They are now busy supporting the teachers and the childrens’ learning.
If you would like your child to attend our small rural school, we have a few spaces for September 2014. Please contact us on (01234) 711518 and we would be delighted to show you around.
Meeting Gail Emms
Year 2 pupils from Stoke Goldington CE First School had the perfect chance to brush up on their safety awareness skills with a trip to the Hazard Alley Safety Centre, Milton Keynes, last month. This fitted in well with their current theme, Keeping Safe and Moving On. The children joined in with their Year 2 friends from North Crawley CE First School for a hands-on morning at the centre. They explored everything from how to make an emergency 999 telephone call to putting someone into the correct
recovery position for first aid help.
The centre has all sorts of interactive areas that recreate potentially hazardous situations, whether it’s in the home, on the road, near water or on a building site. The children learnt how to stay safe when visiting the seaside, and what to do when using the railway plus in the event of a fire.
Year 2 pupils from both schools are given the opportunity to visit the centre every summer term as it provides a really fun and engaging way to learn about keeping themselves safe.
Safety comes first for Year 2 pupils
Olney Infants Academy
The fairytale wedding of Prince Charming and Sleeping Beauty was a magical day for children at Olney Infants Academy, as
on June 3 Year 1s took part in History Off The Page.
Dressed as their favourite fairytale characters, the children were guests to the wedding and learnt to perform as acrobats and storytellers to entertain the happy couple. Using authentic tools, the pupils also learnt some interesting new medieval crafts as they joined in the wedding preparations (pictured right). The children were thrilled to make leather pouches, pocket potions, gargoyles and even their own soaps, as well as decorating cupcakes to eat at the wedding feast. They were told to sleep with their secret potions under their pillow that night, to make wishes come true and ward off any wandering trolls and ogres! World Cup fever took over the academy
on June 13th, when the children staged a match between England and Brazil. Children were keen to take part in the outdoor tournament, which saw them compete against each other until the grand finale. They played through the heat, enjoying plenty of water with sun- screen and hats.
