Olney Town Football Club
A new season kicks off
Off the field
As soon as the last season finished, the football club embarked on its busiest programme of works yet. It’s fair to say that the club is looking pretty impressive, and we’re all very proud of it. We would
like to thank our members and the general public for their kind comments about the huge improvements we’ve made.
The ground has new technical areas, pathways and perimeter fencing, which ensures that it conforms to the ground grading requirements of the FA.
Inside the club, both the members’ bar and the lounge have undergone a major refurbishment programme. The new-look lounge has not only been redecorated, but now proudly boasts a new dance floor and carpet, many thanks to all at Captain Carpet for their support. It’s now the perfect room for all types of parties, from Christenings to birthdays or business meetings. The kitchen is now fully operational too.
We have also invested in BT Sports so, together with Sky Sports, our members will miss none of the action in the Premier League and Football League.
If you are looking for a function room for a party then the FC could be the ideal location. Just call Paul Tough on 07764 183485. If you have not seen the improvements, then please do not hesitate to pop down and have a look.
We are holding an open day on Saturday, September 6th from 1-6pm. There will be a bouncy castle for the children and a barbeque. Our 1st Team will be kicking off at 3pm in a league fixture against Bourne Town.
On the field
The hard work has also continued during the close season with a number of key personnel changes. Our 1st Team coach Dan Walder has taken up a full-time role with Luton Town, so we welcome James Sear to the team, joining Ed Wheatley and Ken Speed.
The Reserve Team has seen a massive change with the appointment of David Ashcroft as manager, and he will be joined by Stacey O’Neill, (assistant manager) and Dave Morgan (coach).
The great news is that we have been able to retain the majority of players from last season and, with the improved facilities, we have been able to attract new quality players. We have high hopes for a good season!

Olney Bowling Club
Bucks Cup
Once again Olney competed in a very strong North Bucks group consisting of Bletchley Town, Stony Stratford, Chandos Buckingham, Buckingham West End and Newport Pagnell. After the five
games, Bletchley and Stony Stratford went through to the finals. Olney secured Bucks Cup bowls next season with a mid-table finish. Sadly, Newport Pagnell were relegated.
Points night
A new innovation for 2014 was the introduction of the Tuesday Points Night. The idea is that enjoyment, fun and mixing with fellow club members is more important than winning. The draw system ensures different team mates every week and the structure of the points system means that everyone, no matter their skill level, has a chance of winning.
After a slow start, this is now proving to be a popular addition to the club’s events. It is particularly appreciated by the newer members.
