Rotary Club of Newport Pagnell
Brooklands Day Centre
The Rotary Club of Newport Pagnell has had connections with the Brooklands Day Centre for many years. As a result of a request for help in supplying and installing a suitable worktop, a small team of Rotarians took up the challenge to carry out the work in the first floor kitchen.
In typical Rotary fashion, research was carried out and a suitable matching black laminated work-top and a pair of chrome legs were sourced. Matching tiles for a splashback were also acquired with some difficulty.
Three hours of dedicated and perspiration loaded labour ensured a successful conclusion to a worthy community service project.
David Fletcher
Our Club is renowned for the variety and quality of its speakers, and we recently had the privilege of a visit by David Fletcher. David is well known from his participation in various TV shows relating to antiques and his insight into this complex subject was indeed fascinating. His talk included various anecdotes and personalities encountered during his many years ‘in the trade’ and the evening ended with a mock auction for a very collectable statuette which he had brought along for the occasion.
Christmas is on its Way!
As Christmas approaches, our sister club, The Rotary Club of The Brickhills will be playing host to Santa Claus for his annual visit to Newport Pagnell. As a result of a long- standing promise from Santa, the Brickhills club is busy preparing its Christmas float ready to take out on the road again touring the town!
Santa on his sleigh
This year they will be out and about on the Poet’s Estate here in Newport Pagnell between 6pm and 8pm on Sunday 7th December. Santa will visit as many streets in the area as possible, but sadly may not be able to visit every street on the estate. Santa’s Tour is also dependent on the weather and may have to be cancelled if the weather is very bad.
The club’s Santa Tour sees Santa’s brightly lit sleigh accompanied by the sound of Christmas music and is a magical sight for children and adults alike.
Last year’s Santa Tour raised over £1100 which was distributed between local charities Headway MK and Young Carers.
If you are around in the area at the time of Santa’s Tour, look out for the float and give Santa a wave.

Our Rotary Club Needs You
The Rotary Club of Newport Pagnell was chartered in 1963 and we have been providing help to communities locally, nationally and internationally up to and including the present day. We are an active group of twenty-five like-minded men and women and we meet every Wednesday at the Swan Revived Hotel, Newport Pagnell. We are a dual gender dining club but having a meal is optional. If a meal is required then this takes place in the restaurant from 6.45 onwards. Non diners can arrive in time for the start of the meeting at 8.00 pm.
Why not make a New Year resolution to come along and meet us and at the same time find out what we have to offer.
