Fabulous ‘40s Weekend
Milton Keynes Museum
Head to Milton Keynes Museum this 5-6 September for a very special celebration of the sights, sounds and flavours of the ‘40s!
Over a packed two days at the Museum’s base in
McConnell Drive, Wolverton, you can look forward to:
• The ever popular Miss Lola Lamour singing popular songs from
the war years
• Singing Major James Cooper Watson with singalongs and
musical entertainments
• A vintage tea room with dance floor and music for anyone wanting
to dance
• Vintage stalls in the courtyard
• Three home guard battalions
• Free French military display of artefacts
• Ministry of Food
• Home front display
• RAF, Red Cross and civilian re-enactors
• Military and civilian vehicles of the era
• Plus the old Angel public house will be open for business in the
street of shops.
Attracting exhibitors and visitors from across the region, this hugely popular event costs no extra on top of usual Museum admission prices: adults £7.50, concessions £6, family ticket for two adults and up to four children £22.
September also sees the return of Heritage Open Days: four days from 10-13 September when you sample all the delights of the Museum without paying a penny! An extra attraction over the event is
a real ale and cider festival running from the Angel Inn – relocated to the Museum from Stony Stratford when Cofferidge Close was built. On 20 September you’re promised a wheely good day out when more than 250 vehicles, buses and coaches, military vehicles, motorbikes, minis and much, much more, arrive for the Museum’s annual Transport Day: a chance to be transported back to a time when there was nothing to beat the joy of the open road.
Details of all events can be found on the Museum’s website www.mkmuseum.org.uk.
