Olney Middle School
Badminton Brilliance
Thanks to a partnership with Badminton England, Olney Middle School are extremely fortunate
to be able to have coaching from ex-Commonwealth Games and ex- Olympian athlete Ella Tripp. She competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics with her women’s doubles partner Joanne Wright.
We began with a whole school assembly where Ella told us all a bit about herself and showed us a video of the Tripp Academy where lots of rising stars go to train. Working jointly with Mrs Brogan, Ella is currently inspiring two of our classes in exciting lessons. Children will learn the basics of badminton: from how to hold the racket for various shots, to how to serve and return the shuttle. Lessons began this week and all the children involved have been extremely enthusiastic and keen to learn.
