democratic grounds. Here, in a nut shell, is why I shall vote to leave.
I absolutely agree with Tony Benn on this. This was also an argument used by Enoch Powell who campaigned with Tony Benn on the issue in 1975, so it’s not really a party political issue. It is my view that this country can work perfectly well outside the EU. Why does everyone think that you have to be part of some exclusive club to get on? I mean really, it’s absurd. We can still deal with other countries perfectly well. Most of the MPs and Establishment voices who are rabidly pro are exactly the same ones who told us that the UK would go to hell in a handcart if we didn’t join the Euro.
I remember the 1975 referendum for the Common Market, and those who voted to remain then (as we were already shoehorned in by the ghastly Ted Heath), admit now that they were mislead, and that they basically thought that French wine would be cheaper. I didn’t get a vote then as I wasn’t old enough andyouhavetobeover60tohavehadasay in it, so I think it’s time we showed our teeth to our masters. Just think, not only will we get our democracy back but it will throw Cameron, Corbyn and whoever leads the Lib Dems these days, into a right old tizzy, and that alone has

to be worth considering. The Scots have said that they may call another referendum on their independence if we leave, which is good as I always backed Scottish Independence anyway. The more independence a country can get the better for that country. I’d like independence for Olney – and who knows, Clifton Reynes – but that may be pushing it a bit far at present. Let’s just get out of the EU rst shall we?
Anyway, there are my reasons, and I’ve never wavered, and never shall, and I’ve read all there is to read on both sides. Both sides have stooped to personal abuse which is a bit sad as I really enjoy discussing these things and have never based a friendship on how someone votes. And neither would I stoop to dishonesty to win and so I suggest that all those who want to leave go and vote on the 23rd June, and those who wish to remain, go and vote on the 24th June as it’ll be quieter. I shall happily accept whatever the outcome as at least we’ve got a vote on it. It’ll be the last referendum we get so make the most of it. But you must weigh up the pros and cons and make your decision as it’s entirely a matter for You.
See you next time.
