What is MK Pharmacy First?
MK Pharmacy First is an additional free service available to anyone registered with a GP in the Milton Keynes area and is available from most pharmacies in the area. If you don’t pay for your prescriptions the pharmacist can also supply recommended medicines free of charge. If you do pay for your medications the pharmacist may recommend a treatment that is cheaper than a prescription charge.
Pharmacists are a fantastic and underused resource for immediate professional confidential health advice and treatment. They can assess and treat a wide range of illnesses quickly meaning you don’t need to wait to see or wait to talk to your GP.
What Conditions are covered?
Athlete’s Foot, Minor eye infections including bacterial conjunctivitis, Constipation, Eczema and Contact Dermatitis, Cough, Cystitis, Diarrhoea, Ear wax build up, Fever, Hay Fever/ Allergies, Insect Bites, Mild to moderate pain, Mouth ulcers, Nappy rash, Nasal congestion, Sore Throat, Threadworm, Vaginal thrush, Warts and Verrucas.
What Drugs can be given as part of this scheme by the pharmacist?
Aspirin, Bazuka Gel, Beclometasone Nasal Spray, Bonjela Gel, Cetirizine, Chloramphenicol Eye Drops, Chlorhexidine Mouthwash, Chlorphenamine Syrup (Piriton), Chlorphenamine Tablets (Piriton), Clotrimazole Cream (Canesten), Clotrimazole Combi (Pessary and Cream), Clotrimazole Pessary, Guaphenesin Linctus(Robitussin), Hydrocortisone Cream 1%, Ibuprofen Tablets, Ibuprofen Syrup, Ispaghula Husk Sachets (Fybogel), Loratadine, Mebendazole Tablets, Menthol & Eucalyptus Inhalation, Miconazole Cream, Paracetamol Tablets, Paracetamol Soluble Tablets, Paracetamol Suspension, Pholcodine Linctus, Potassium Citrate Tablets (Cystopurin), Rehydration Sachets (Dioralyte), Senna Tablets, Simple Linctus,

Are there any restrictions to using MK Pharmacy First?
There are a few restrictions a pharmacist has to adhere to for example they cannot give antibiotic eye drops to children under two. However, if the pharmacist cannot help they will direct you to the practice you are registered with in the MK area or the most appropriate place.
How do patients use MK Pharmacy First?
Ask for MK Pharmacy First at your local pharmacy and talk in person to the pharmacist in con dence about your symptoms. If advice is needed about a child or elderly person, they will need to be seen by the pharmacist in person. The pharmacist will recommend appropriate treatment and medication and whenever needed will direct you to other services.

Cox & Robinson Pharmacy in Olney and all other pharmacies in the Milton Keynes area except the pharmacy in Woburn Sands.
When?
Cox & Robinson in Olney, Monday to Friday 9 am-6.30 pm (not between 1-2 pm) and Saturday 9-5 pm (not between 1-2 pm).
