or raised funds, to build Project Diamond, including the Milton Keynes Community Foundation, Local Giving, John Laing Ltd, a host of private donors – almost forgetting to mention his own Company, JR Tusting – and of course the tireless work of the Hall’s own fund-raising committee.
After the tape-cutting ceremony, everybody was invited into the Hall where prizes were awarded to the best-dressed child and adult, showing off their red, white and blue out ts on the stage.
Around the perimeter of the hall were stalls, put up by regular users of the hall – Short-Mat bowls, WI, History Group, Old Peoples’ Welfare Committee, British Legion, Exercise Class, Tai Chi and the Flower, Fruit, Vegetable and Handicraft Show – showcasing what they had to offer. There was also a stall, showing a presentation of how Project Diamond had developed over time, together with acknowledgements of the various people and organisations, which had contributed in some way. In one corner of the hall was an area devoted to young children’s activities. Drinks and a wide variety of cakes, made by people in the village, were also available.
A novel event and an appropriate way to celebrate a landmark event in Lavendon’s village life.
