Turvey Lower School
PSinging loud and strong!
upils at Turvey Lower have been warming up their vocal chords with the school’s newly found passion for singing. Recently, the choir
delivered a small concert, enthusiastically performing songs at a community event. However they weren’t the only ones getting involved – our Key Stage 2 pupils participated in the Bedford Borough Sing Up programme which ended in a large concert with other Bedfordshire schools at the Bedford Corn Exchange.
At Turvey Lower not only is singing a social activity which helps children gain confidence and create new friendships, but is also an entertaining way of learning in the classroom. Our pupils have been enjoying the singing sessions in a range of their lessons, having fun being creative and working together.
If you are interested in your child attending a small rural school, we still have a few places for September 2016. Call us on 01234 881259 as we would love to show you around.

RNadine Dorries MP Opens New Nursery
ecently, Phonebox Magazine went to see Nadine Dorries MP launch the new Cherry Trees Day Nursery in Cran eld. The MP for Mid-Bedfordshire joined parents, staff and children at the new eco-
friendly nursery on Duncan Road, on the Cran eld University site. Nadine not only unveiled a commemorative plaque but also cut a celebration cake, praising dedicated staff for their hard work. She said, “I am particularly delighted by the building’s eco-friendly features and to see the imaginative use of garden space which clearly encourages children into the fresh air all year round. Quite apart from the health bene ts, I can see that children are having fun and, as a result, learning a great deal.”
Cherry Trees Manager, Emma Jestice, said staff were just as excited as the children with the new facilities! She explained, “We have to engage a child’s natural curiosity and wonder at the earliest opportunity, and our wonderful play and learning spaces inside and in the garden are doing just that... Inspiring staff and children alike and providing endless opportunities for fun and and learning.”
