THoliday Bible Club
his year you may well have seen hundreds of excited children, and an army of volunteers moving around the town to the various churches who were involved in the annual Holiday Bible Club held between 8th - 12th August. This year the theme was ‘Arctica’, with the central
message that you don’t need to go to the North Pole (or any other remote part of the world) to nd God, He is right here waiting for us to trust Him. We spent the week nding out what God is like – from being a loving and forgiving Father in the story of the prodigal son, through other themes from Bible stories about the Good Shepherd, Zaccheus the little tax collector and David and Goliath – no matter how big your problem, God is ‘gianter’ than that!
They were delighted to welcome some special guests to the Club: Francesca Skelton, Deputy Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, along with Peter and Debbie Geary.
Holiday Bible Club is run by the four churches in the town, and the aim is to have lots of fun and games while learning about Jesus. It has been running every year since 1989, and this is the 21st year that Hilary Terry has been leading it – they celebrated with a special cake at the bbq. Over 300 people attended the bbq, which makes a wonderful end to a very happy week.
A massive thank you to all the volunteers, helpers, churches... the list is too long to include everyone, but you know who you are!
Next year’s Club is from Monday, 7th - Friday, 11th August 2017, and is for children aged 5 - 12.
