Black History, Olney, Home of Amazing Grace. October 1 at 10.30am - October 29 at 4.30pm. Discover how John Newton’s life and personal experience as a slave trade captain and as a slave himself inspired him to write the world’s most famous hymn ‘Amazing Grace’, here in Olney. Learn about his time as the curate of the parish church, his involvement in the abolition of slavery and spiritual in uence on William Wilberforce. “Amazing Grace! How sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me” (John Newton).
Three Hares Art Gallery VISUALise: Inspiration for Stitch and Expression. October 4 at 10.30am - October 28 at 4.30pm. This exhibition of textiles and mixed media work has been created by the ISE Textile Group of ten artists. ISE (Inspiration for Stitch and Expression) was formed several years ago by like-minded artists who enjoy creating diverse work with stitch as the common thread.
Friday Quiz Evening with Fish and Chips. November 25 at 7.00pm - 10pm. Back by popular demand our Friday Quiz Evening, hosted by our now regular and most popular Quiz-Masters Neil and Pat Hodges. Tickets £10 available from the Museum Shop. Teams of 6-8 people. Bring own beverages and condiments. Raf e too. A great night out.
Dickens of a Christmas – we need more help! December 4 at 8.00am - 5pm. We’re planning ahead. Please be on our ‘Dickens Day Volunteer’ team to help set up the gazebo in the high street, sell mulled wine, and take down the gazebo. Even if you could only spare an hour – that would be wonderful! The museum is a small private charity reliant on your support for its continuation. We take group visit bookings and can tailor-make private tours or talks for groups with a speci c interest.
