Olney Private Hire Junior Team News and Coaching
The teams are doing really well in the MKTL and winning most of the divisions we are competing in. The only problem we are facing is other club’s poor organization which leads to too many matches being called off. Look out for details of the final league positions next month.
Well done to Susannah Cornwell who won the U12 Club competition. She beat Jemima Worsfold in a good final event (see photo of them both).
Also well done to Daniel Cornwell who with Ollie Thomas, won the Ousedale Olney Campus U14 event without losing a set (see photo).
We are also now offering Buddy tennis hitting for our Juniors, just ask Nigel for details
If you would like to join our coached sessions for Juniors from 4 upwards, please contact Nigel on 07946 734377.
Adult Team News
The Mens Bucks team have won 2 and lost 2 so far. They beat Penn and Tylers Green in a thrilling match. Les Folds, Mike Macdonnell, Simon Barter and Chris Wright played strongly but the heroes were Phil Bennett and Andrew Barr who twisted and tormented their opponents to win the final rubber and the match itself (see photos). We lost against a strong Burnham side with a number of players in Olney’s side for the first time. Ted Barnes, Alistair White and Stuart Ayling were the debutants joined by Simon Barter, Chris Wright and Andrew Barr.
The Mens C: the “Olney Dragons”, beat Stony Stratford 7-1 after good efforts by Ted Barnes, Brian Worsfold, Stuart Ayling. They are still unbeaten and a good bet for promotion...
The Mixed B team is doing well in its first season. They beat Woburn Sands 7-1 with Olney represented ably by Sarah Wilkinson, Philip Ramos, Fraser
Chamberlain and Sarah Barr.
The Mixed A was not so fortunate as they went down 2-6 against David Lloyd despite the efforts of Eleanor Carter, Richard Finch, Chris Wright and Gill Hogston.
