The Olympic are over. I donʼt know about you, but Iʼm disappointed that it all seems to be over so soon. What a fantastic event it turned out to be. There may have been some cynicism before the event but we managed to pull it off in spectacular style. When you are the host of the Games, the eyes of the world are on you, this means that not only did our opening and closing ceremonies have to be something special but so too did our athletes. Not only did we finish third in the medals table with 29 Gold medals, but we even have a Gold medal in Milton Keynes. Greg Rutherford has done Milton Keynes proud.
renowned sport, I think youʼll agree. However, unlike most sporting figures I didnʼt quite pull off the natural elegance and instead hula-hooped myself into a frenzy. The photos have made me the laughing stock
of my office!
I know legacy has been something that has been the focus of this Olympic Games in particular. We want to make sure that for generations to come sporting activity is something that everyone can enjoy. It is also important that we encourage children to take part in sport as one day they may become our new Greg Rutherford, Jessica Ennis or Victoria Pendleton.
The Olney Bible Club ran with the Olympic theme this month at its annual gathering. I was delighted to see all of the children taking part in team building activities with the influence of sport and the church. They certainly know how to cheer loudly!
The launch of Energy Clubs in Milton Keynes, as well as across the UK, is one way of ensuring that the legacy of the Games will be secure. These clubs have been organised by Sport Leaders UK and are there to encourage children to participate in sporting activities and perhaps one day themselves become Olympic athletes. I was asked to take part in the hula-hooping, a world

Continuing with the theme of the
Olympics and success, I had the
pleasure of awarding the Mysore
their Highly Commended award
from the Tiffin Cup. The Cup
takes place every year and sets
out to find the best South-Asian restaurant in the UK. As an MP I am always keen to put forward a restaurant from Milton Keynes North and this year that restaurant was the Mysore. They have won several awards before for their cuisine and now they have an additional one to add to their collection. Iʼm hoping that next year Milton Keynes will have its first Tiffin Cup winner.
Finally, I held my annual summer mobile surgery last month. I really enjoy getting out

into the rural areas and meeting you all. I had a wide variety of people coming to visit me; some just wanted to say hello and others has problems which required a little more looking into. However, if you didnʼt manage to make it along to one of my mobile surgeries, I hold surgeries on a regular basis at the Civic Offices in Milton Keynes. If you do require an appointment to come and see me, please give my office a call on 01908 686830 and they will be able to advise you on the next surgery.
