OLNEY LADIES HOCKEY CLUB
Olney have had a busy season and are very proud to have ended the season in 4th place in Division 1. It has been a mixed season starting off with too many players, which is no bad thing, then the injuries kicked in, with bad knees (Sarah Pace, aka Pacey one of our new recruits) and Beth Lee with back problems. Amy Camfield our new defender was also carrying a knee injury and trusty Jood Tetlow managed to crack some ribs while wresting with a lump of snow in Tignes. We were sorry that Connie, Naomi and Harriet haven’t returned this season, they are busy with their children and various other sporting pursuits. Serena on the other hand has returned after having a baby during last season and great to have Serena back on pitch.
End of Year Awards
Olney marked the end of season awards with a day at their sponsors home ground (The Swan with Two Nicks, Sharnbrook), they kindly sponsored our new playing tops.
The club rewarded themselves with a well earned weekend away on their annual tour No. 13 to Birmingham!!! Starting at the Super Sausage Café, a match against Edgbaston, which sadly we lost, a trip to a brewery, driving range in our Onesies and a memorable night at the Jam House!
Olney would like to thank Wendy Haslam for 10 years excellent play on pitch up front, scoring and assisting many goals, Wendy has decided to dedicate more time to other sporting pursuits. Hopefully Wendy will enjoy being a social member!
We are playing in a Summer League at Wellingborough and will commence our Wednesday night training early in September, we are hoping to recruit some new members, so if you fancy having a go, please contact Jane Dip (jane.dip@btconnect.com) or 01234 713702, we also have a website.
