Olney Bells in June
On the third Saturday, the 15th June starting at 10.00am, a full peal will be rung to mark the 60th Anniversary of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II which was on the 2nd June 1953. The peal will be rung by members of the Oxford Diocesan Guild of Church bellringers under the leadership of Ken Davenport from Wokingham. Ken is the Chairman of the Guild Bell Fund which gave so generously towards the Olney bells project in 2008/9.
Two weeks later on Saturday 29th June the bells will be rung before the 1.00pm opening of the annual Cherry Fair on the Glebe Field. Afterwards the tower will be open all afternoon so if you would like to see the bells and the inside of the spire and you do not mind a bit of strenuous exercise climbing the spiral staircase please come along, it is well worth the effort.
