Earls Barton Rally
Pat Conroy
A belated Happy New Year to all your staff and readers.
We hope everyone had a good Christmas and are now ready for the busy times ahead in 2014. Arrangements for the Earls Barton Rally are well advanced and we have already received a lot of entries for all classes both vintage and craft and models.
This year there will be Galloping Acrobatics as the main ring event, which should certainly be very entertaining and something completely different. It will be the first time we have had a horse act in the arena and hopefully it will bring in the crowds.
There will be the beer tent as per usual and this year there will be music during the day, this worked very well last year and we hope it will be well supported again this year. As always, we would welcome any help during the arranging or actually on the set up and weekend. Anyone interested can contact Pat Conroy on 01933 663454 or Penny Smith, who has now taken over from Elaine Gregory, 01933 664730.
Happy New Year.
Shakespeares Closure
J. Garrard & Allen Solicitors Olney
It is with great regret that we at J. Garrard & Allen learnt of the proposed closure of Shakespeares’ Newport Pagnell Office on the 10th January this year.
This firm’s association with Shakespeares predecessors in title, particularly Bull Astley Harding, Bull Durbridge Astley, and originally Bull & Bull, goes back almost 200 years.
Over the years both firms have enjoyed a friendly, professional working relationship. We wish the partners and staff of the Newport Pagnell office every success in the future, wherever that may be.
This is indeed the end of an era.
Re letter - Dougall in January issue Annette Borner
I too do this journey along Station Road everyday and I myself contacted someone at the council “who deals with traffic light problems”, because I have witnessed several people jumping the lights when they get frustrated at the wait when there is no traffic coming from the other direction. Nothing has changed since I reported the problem and I am concerned that as this is also a pedestrian crossing, someone is going to get hurt.
Rugby Craze
New Rugby Craze or Council Crazy?
Why on earth has a rugby goal post been erected on Jonhsons Field? I have overlooked that area for 15 years and not once seen anyone tossing a rugby ball.
There must be a surplus of tax payers money for this bright idea. What I can guarantee is that some teenager is likely to try and shimmy up the height of those poles. Resulting in broken bones. My crystal rugby ball tells me that will probably happen during the next summer holidays.
Olney Carol Singers
In December the Olney Carol Singers visited all the pubs and restaurants in Olney singing carols for Willen Hospice. We raised £339.26 and thank everyone for their contributions.

A very big thank you to the kind person who picked up my grey leather gloves and hung them on the wing mirror of my blue mini! It is very much appreciated.
