On Friday 6th December, all of Newport Pagnell District Girl Guiding got together (12 Units) at St Peter and St Pauls Church for our Carol service.
Each Unit had prepared a five minute entertainment for the audience, and these ranged from Rainbows singing the Calypso carol, Brownies rocking around a Christmas tree and getting Santa stuck up a chimney. There was a climate change version of Christmas and a camp theme from senior section of the Twelve Days of Christmas. All unit flags were in the church, including the district banner. Our Local Town Mayor and wife attended the service and both enjoyed themselves, especially the Christmas Hokey Cokey. It was standing room only in the church with over 350 people in attendance, what a fantastic turn out!
We had a retiring collection at the back of the church for The Church of England Children Society, which raised £190. During the service we had four Guides being presented with the Baden Powell Award, a high achievement for a Guide to get, well done! One of our Leaders was presented with a 30-year service award. The evening was a great success. We appeared to have caused a few traffic jams in the town that night, and the fish and chip shops appeared to be doing a good trade at the end of the evening with queues out the door. Thanks to everyone.

The staff and volunteers at the Cowper and Newton Museum would like to thank Alan Richardson and his team at Olney Town
Council, for all their efforts given into ensuring the ‘Dickens of a Christmas’ event was such a success. Everyone had lots of fun and the goodwill shown to our museum was so heart-warming. We are most grateful to everyone who donated towards the upkeep of Olney’s museum and gardens. If you have a few hours to spare a month and would like a New Year’s resolution, we would be so grateful for your help as a volunteer with us in 2014.
