                                 Olney Town Football Club
espite the very wet weather Olney Town have Dcontinued to impress on the field, arrangements were made for the Club to use the Ousedale
facility during the poor weather and the results are there to be seen !
The 1st Team have been on an impressive run with only one defeat in their last seven games and that was away at runaway league leaders Oadby Town. The run started with an impressive win against rivals Bugbrooke 3-2, then winning 2-0 at 4th placed ON Chenecks. The run continued when they hit six at Woodford only to follow that up with impressive wins at Peterborough Sports 2-3, before winning 0-1 at 5th placed St Neots Saints and then a great win against second placed Harrowby Utd at East Street 2-0. Ed Wheatley has a top six finish firmly in his sights which would be an excellent way to end his impressive debut UCL season in charge.
The Reserves have also had some decent results, holding second placed Peterborough North Star 1-1 and beating high flying Oadby Town 6-3 at East St together with good home wins against Bugbrooke 1-0 and S & L Corby 4-0 . The Sunday Team has been the most affected by the weather but they remain in a comfortable league position . Whilst the Vets have also been in decent form climbing into Second place in the Vets Premier League with wins against Tattenhoe Vets Rangers 3-2, Moulton 1-0, Wollaston Victoria 3-2 together with a 2-2 draw at Harpole .
Off The Field
The Club is delighted to announce the granting of 40k from the Football Stadia Improvement Fund for the East Street pitch developments :- perimeter fencing , concrete walkways and new dug outs and plans are now in place to be on site in May 2014 . This will turn East Street into an impressive playing facility for many years to come and ensure their status at Step 5/6 within the United Counties League - we must pay special thanks to Olney Town Council for their support in this grant application .
We have also joined forces with the Town Council in a joint initiative that sees the Council join the Institute of Groundmanship with the Football Club paying for Groundsman Martin Ward to attend a forthcoming Seminar on pitch maintenance.
This ambition has been matched within the Clubhouse ; the Members Bar has been decorated and covered with all our archives from over the years - if you have played for Olney then we are pretty sure that you will feature on one of the walls . Special thanks must go to our Archivist Neville (Stato) Thompson for his attention to detail!
Following contributions from both Olney Town Council and the MKCommunity Trust work has also started on the lounge and kitchen. Special thanks must also to go to our 1st and Reserve Team Sponsor Hygienic Wall Cladding Limited owned by Dave King, for their kind contribution of cladding and flooring - a makeover that will bring our catering facilities into the 21st century . By mid April we should also have re-laid the lounge dance floor and carpet! If you are looking for a function room for a party then the FC could be the ideal location - please call Paul Tough on 07764 183485.
