Pain at the back of the elbow could be due to bursitis , (Students Elbow), caused by leaning on a hard surface repeatedly with the elbow using the typical "head in hand" position , Osteoarthritis of the joint, or Impingement, whereby structures become pinched between the joint surfaces due to repeated activity or hypermobility (in layman 's terms double jointed). More serious problems of the elbow include fractures , dislocations , liga ment and tendon ruptures . Pain in the arm, elbow, forearm or hand may also originate from the neck or thoracic spine. Physiotherapy can help to diagnose the source of the pain and treat accordingly. If any of these symptoms are troubling you then give me a call on 01234 881400 and I will be happy to help. (I have been at the Olney osteopathic surgery in Olney now for 30 years so I must be old!!!) Here we are in the heart of spring, which is the time of year full of hope and anticipation. These dreams and aspirations vary for one and all. Some focus on sporting events Some on changes to their house and garden with DIY involved Some have additions to their family unit with pending babies Some have career changes Some have flown the nest , leaving for university returning for food, washing and TLC Some have exams All of these major events can have enormous effects on our musculoskeletal-skeletal system. At the Olney Osteopathic Surgery we have 3 osteopaths all working with similar yet different aspects of such problems. Fiona Cockings-Mason has noticed a substantial increase in the number of 14 to 20 year olds requiring osteopathy. Often postural issues related to studying rather than sport as in days of old. Sally Guest has initiated a sports injury session on a Tuesday afternoon. This is aimed at preventative as well as current injuries. She uses exercise and Osteopathic techniqueto help develop the mechanics for the sport intended. Olivia Munnelly runs our baby and children clinic. She is always happy to discuss the types of problem and what treatment is involvedwith the parent by phone prior to an appointment being made as unfortunately so often osteopathy for babies and children is a last resort instead of an early option. Between the 3 of us we are open Mondayto Saturday from dawn til dusk (ie 9 til 7 Monday til Thursday, 9 til 6 Friday and 9 til 2 on Saturdays. If you have any queries please do give us a ring. If you receive the answer phone do leave your name and number and one of us will always return your call.
