Yep, we have decided to really push the boat out and, along with our regular Olney calendar, are planning to provide Newport Pagnell with one of their own. Lions Geoffrey O'Brien and Richard Pearson have studied more than 1OOOphotographs in the archives of Newport Pagnell Town Council, and are working on reducing that to around 20. The images will represent the historic town, whereas in Olney we will be asking all keen photographers to provide their favourite photo that depicts the town as they love it. Our page sponsors will select the one they wish to see adorning their page. Phonebox are joining us in promoting the calendar, so have a look at the article below which gives details of how YOU can become involved. Our Olney Calendar 2015 will be 'YOUR' Olney Calendar Read on to find out why (and how). ur last three calendars have been roaring 0 successes thanks to the fantastic support of local friends at the Lions Club, and David Purvis and Dan Evans who provided the images for previous calendars. But, for 2015, we would like to involve a lot more people. At many events we attend, it is clear that there are lots of people who enjoy taking photos of the town, its surroundings and the various community activities which make it such an attractive place to live in. Therefore, for 2015, we would like to encourage Phonebox readers to look through all the photos they may have taken over the years, and send us up to four which they feel capture the atmosphere of living in Olney and the surrounding villages. Whether taken by a Brownie (some older readers will know what these were), Polaroid technology (the wonder of its day), a camera phone or with the latest all-singing, all-dancing digital Canon camera, we want to see your favourites. They can be recent shots or older ones, but we would love to consider them for inclusion in our next calendar. If you have some photos at home which you feel convey the true image of 'Our Olney', why not send them to us? Who knows, it might find itself adorning someone's kitchen wall anywhere from Olney to Australia or New Zealand to Canada, and many other places where our calendars have been sent in past years. At least 14 of those we receive will appear in the 2015 Lions Calendar, with appropriate acknowledgement. We are planning to call it: "Our Olney" We hope to arrange displays of many of the photos sent to us at various sites during the year and in future issues of Phonebox Magazine, who are joining us in our efforts to make our 2015 calendar the best and most popular yet. It will carry a regular selection of the images. Help us make the 2015 calendar one to remember and one which could feature your photo of Olney. Full details about submitting photos and the requirements for taking part can be found by visiting our website at www.olneylionsclub.org. So who ARE the Lions? Phonebox Magazine 33
