                                 Hollington Wood
hilip Solt , owner of Hollington PWood in Olney, invited us at the Phonebox to visit, so I met him on a rather foggy day for a tour of the woods . It was instantly clear that these woods are his passion, and more than just
a hobby for him.
"We used to spend hours fighting imaginary battles"
Philip's dad bought Hollington Wood when he was just three years old. It was initially used as a weekend and holiday haven, so from a young age Philip spent every weekend and school holiday in the forest. 'This was where my whole childhood was spent. We used to spend hours fighting imaginary battles with brambles and nettles!" , he explained, showing me the playground of trees, bushes and hiding places .
He took me to see what is probably the oldest tree in the woods. "When I was a child I called this tree the ship", he added. "It had rigging and sails and everything. There used to be a great big branch that stuck up and curved out like the bow of the ship, but unfortunately it broke off."
