Would you like to make a difference?
•
he Rotary Club of Newport TPagnell was formed in 1963, and has been providing help to communities locally, nationally and internationally ever since. We are an active group of 26 like-minded men and women, and we meet every Wednesday at the Swan Revived Hotel, Newport Pagnell. We are a dual gender dining club, but having a meal is optional. If members wish to have a meal, this takes place in the restaurant from 6.45pm onwards. Non- diners can arrive in time for the start of the
meeting at 8.00pm.
We've made a difference to... ---- Willen Hospice ----
A cheque for £3500 was presented to Alison Waterhouse. The money was raised from the club's Christmas collections at Frosts Garden Centre, Woburn Sands.
Rotar y International
--- Jaipur Limb Charity --
A cheque for £3250 was given to the charity, from the club's 18th annual charity dinner at the Jaipur Restaurant, Milton Keynes.
Rotary Eradicating Polio Worldwide
An amazing £300 was raised by a 'not-so frugal meal' of soup, rolls and a pudding.
-- Olivia Loves Her Trike --
The Rotary Club of Newport Pagnell, along with five other local Rotary Clubs, was delighted to provide funding for a specially adapted trike for five-year-old Olivia Black. Olivia suffers from a rare genetic condition. First identified in 2004, it mainly affects girls, but boys can have it too. The condition can cause epileptic seizures and severe neuro-developmental delay. Some children with the condition, including Olivia , have difficulty swallowing and breathing, and to avoid problems are fed via a surgically inserted tube. The trike is similar in height and length to a standard five year old's bicycle, but it has two wheels at the back.
Other modifications means the trike is easy to manipulate and steer for Olivia. It has made an enormous difference to her everyday life, and she was delighted with the gift.
Cedars School Sensory Garden
Rotary Club members were invited along to view the considerable progress made in updating and improving the childrens' garden and play area at Cedars School. The Rotary Club's contribution of around £1OOO has been wisely spent and, with much of the essential labour being contributed by school contacts, the difference is clear. The Rotary Club of Newport Pagnell has committed a further grant of £1000 for use in the future. The garden will be officially opened with a summer garden party on Friday, July 4th 2014 .
Thanks For Life
Three years ago the Rotary Club of Newport Pagnell planted displays of crocuses near the fire station in Newport Pagnell, and at the roundabout on the main road East of Olney. In the same way, hundreds of other Rotary Clubs across Britain did the same thing. In 2014, the displays have been wonderful , so
we hope you have the pleasure of seeing the beds of purple crocus. The money raised from them has contributed towards eradicating Polio across the world .
