Tickford Bridge, Newport Pagnell by Barbara Aggett Newport Pagnell Inner Wheel Gail More camb e he afternoon of the 18th March saw Tthe Olney Hall filled to capacity with an audience keen to hear Gail Morecambe talking about her father, the much-loved comedian Eric Morecambe. She did not disappoint, and all comments afterwards were very complimentary. She was an accomplished speaker full of anecdotes, and she gave a vivid picture of growing up in a family with a famous father. It was an open meeting and attracted a wide range of guests from other Inner Wheel clubs, including members from local clubs such as the WI and the Rotary, as well as the local communities of Olney and Newport Pagnell. Proceeds from the afternoon, which included a donation from Gail of half her book stall's proceeds from her 'book' stall, and those from the raffle, were substantial. It will all go towards the Milton Keynes-based charity Baby Basics. The charity initiative was further boosted from the associated Rotary Club. Gail's talk was preceded by the presentation of a cheque by the President, Nigel Benson. This was to acknowledge the fantastic support and help given by Inner Wheel members during the major fundraising efforts of Newport Pagnell Rotary over the Christmas period.
