Sherington CE School
Go Wild
We’ve particularly enjoyed linking up with a number of other schools this term. We recently welcomed the artist and performer, Yaw Asiyama, back to Sherington to spend four
days teaching and performing creative projects. Students from St Andrew’s School joined us for the sessions, and the whole group enjoyed activities such as making puppets and performing in a show with them, and taking part in story-telling sessions. The reception class were also getting creative, and along with Rushden College, links were also continued with Emberton School during a cross-country walk with picnic and games. We were very thankful for the fine early summer day, and this geography field-trip was the start of studies of the local area, looking at human and natural geographical features.

Step into a magical world of summer fun and fancy dress with Newport Pagnell’s annual carnival from July 5-6. Starting at 12pm and running until 6pm on both days.
Saturday will see the main parade leaving Blakelands at 12pm and travelling through the town until it reaches Riverside Meadow which is hosting a funfair, inflatable play zone and plenty of other family activites.
Music lovers are in for a treat with a brand new music stage on the Saturday. With a lively mix, performers will be taking to the stage between 1pm and 5.30pm. On Sunday a car boot sale is running from 12pm- 4pm, however if you’re more into classic cars then the car show rolls out of Blakelands at midday and follows the parade route through the town before parking up on Riverside Meadow, allowing spectators to admire the finer details.
At 2.30pm 1000 rubber ducks and 30 giant company ducks take to the water for the biggest duck race in Newport Pagnell.
The theme this year is Go Wild, so expect to see all sorts of exotic surprises throughout the weekend. Go to newportpagnellcarnival.com for more information.
Physiotherapy for Neck Pain
Hello, I am Eileen Lewis, I have a BSc in Physiotherapy and also am a qualified Acupuncturist with over 20 years experience. Over the next few months I will be discussing a variety of problems commonly experienced, from neck and back pain, to joint pains and soft tissue strains and sprains. This month I would like to cover neck pain.
A high proportion of the population will suffer from neck pain at some point in their lives. This can be quite debilitating making everyday activities very difficult. The symptoms often radiate from the neck to other areas including; headaches and migraines, shoulder, arm, and hand pain and sometimes pins and needles. The symptoms may originate from the
vertebral joints the nerves or the surrounding muscles and fascia. As a physio I often see patients with these symptoms and after a thorough examination am able to establish the cause of the problem. This then allows me to give the appropriate postural advice, exercises, and any other treatment necessary to alleviate the source of the problem and ultimately the symptoms. Other physio treatments I commonly use for neck pain may involve soft tissue techniques, myofascial release, joint mobilisations, ultrasound or acupuncture.
So if you are suffering from any of these symptoms and this all sounds too familiar, then give me a call on 01234 881400 or alternatively please visit my website for any further information at www.bedfordphysio.co.uk
I look forward to helping you.
