We will be resurfacing Courts 2&3 in March 2015 so they will be ready for the next summer season and be top class!
We are also drawing up plans for extending our clubhouse to create more space particularly for our Juniors to relax between games.
Join Olney Tennis Club
Now summer is here, come and play tennis and enjoy fresh air, exercise and a lot of fun at OTC. You can play in groups or with your family and friends. Coaching is available for all ages so please ask. Adult membership is under £2 a week, so what’s stopping you! Please go to www.olneytennis.net for more info. You will be very welcome.
The Cox Cup
The 2014 bowls season is now well under way. The table tennis table is stashed away. The winter TT league was a
tense battle with two contestants finishing on the same number of points. A play off was mooted but the protagonists declared themselves too mentally & physically exhausted! The joint winners were Colin Millward and Mike Castle.
The year started with the election of our new president, Brian Clifton. We wish him a long and successful tenure. A big thank you must go to our outgoing president, Aubrey Green for all the hard work he did, and continues to do, for the club.
After much attention during the winter months the green is in very good condition, and is now regarded as one of the best in Buckinghamshire.
Mr and Mrs Cox who are sponsors of the Cox Cup
Several games have been played. Some won, some lost, but all were enjoyed. The club competitions are all under way. Could there be a few surprises this year?
The Cox Cup was again a series of hard fought matches. Won this year by Howarth Munday, Dave Hoyland and Geoff Bourne. Our congratulations to them.
The first social event was a big success. A “last man standing” competition followed by a Thai curry cooked by Pam Castle. Delicious it was too! The last man standing was Pat Brock
The annual quiz night was also a great night. Most teams thought the questions too hard. The winners thought they were easy!
The evening was rounded off with a lovely dinner provided by Pam, this time ably assisted by her commis chef Mike.
There are several home fixtures to be played during July. These include:
Wed. 2nd 18.15 Newport Pagnell
Thu. 3rd 18.30 Earls Barton
