Lucy Attwood, who lives in Olney and attends Ousedale School, got the call up for the England Women’s U18 rugby squad recently, playing
in their international xture against Canada. Lucy is captain of the Olney RFC U18 Girls team which recently got to the National Cup semi- nals, just four years after the section formed. A founding member of Olney’s girls section, Lucy played inside centre for England in their 41-17 victory over Canada.

In other news, Olney RFC U18 player Fraser Strachan got the call up for the national Scottish rugby side, playing for the team in the recent 5 Nations tournament against England, Wales and Ireland.
Fraser moved to Olney RFC at the age of 14 where he played inside centre for the unbeaten U14 and U15 squads and was selected for the England Midlands U16 team. In January this year Fraser played for Olney in the East Midlands Final when the team beat Ampthill. Due to his international cap, under RFU rules, Fraser can’t play in any of the National Cup competition, in which Olney’s youth side has progressed to the semi- nal stage.
Olney RFC Coach Mark Lay said: “Fraser has been a real asset to the Olney squad. He is a very physical player with the ability to break through a defensive back line and put supporting players into gaps. He enjoys the contact and is impressive in defence with a good track record in stealing ball from the opposition. We’re very proud of his achievements.”
