More rambling
The Linford Lakes walk
This is a very pleasant circular walk of about 4.5 miles 2 hours. Mainly at with a few stiles, however there is a half mile section of road down a small lane ( Little Linford Lane) which can become busy during commuting time so caution here.
The walk starts from a car park in Great Linford on the Wolverton Road just past and on the same side as the Black Horse pub (MK14 5AJ), this is between Newport Pagnell and New Bradwell.
One section of the walk can become quite muddy
after heavy rain. 1a There are refreshments available at the nearby
Black Horse pub.

1. From the car park turn right and walk along to the pedestrian crossing, cross over the road and turn right, cross the Selkirk Drive junction and walk to pass over the canal bridge and turn left down the path on to the tow path at the right of the canal. Continue along here 100 yards or so and take the track that goes off to the right, continue through the gate towards the ruin of St Peters Church at Stanton Low.
2. Follow the track round to the right and then to the right again, now with the river Ouse on your left. At the bridge and weir over the river on your left, pass through the gates with the mill house on your left, pass through the next gate after the house and out buildings then turn immediately sharp right almost back on yourself. Head down through the eld to a stile at a gate and then keeping the fence on your left walk to the second stile to enter the eld.
3. Depending on the crops in the eld walk either diagonally right across field or go round the perimeter until you reach a proper stile to leave this eld by. Follow the path and the signs (as some of the walk passes through private property) through the trees until you come to a stile that leads in to a paddock area. Follow the signs and the stiles through the paddocks (there may well be horses here) the last stile will lead in to a woodland track between the lakes.
4. This is the area that can be very muddy after rain and even ooded (proper wellie fodder) after prolonged rain. Proceed through the trees, you will pass a car parking area for shing club members on your right, until you reach a stile to the right hand side of a gate. This leads out on to Little Linford Lane, caution here and turn right here and keep to the right over two bridges, just after the second bridge look for a sign for a bridle way on the right (this runs with the back of the motorway services on your left).
