ere, we continue to publish the names of the fallen, from our local war memorials, exactly 100 years ago to the month. Having worked with the Royal British Legion, we have the names of the men, alongside their unit and rank, below.
Rotary Club Newport Pagnell Summer Concert
Our Club’s main fund raising event this month will be a Summer Concert featuring popular music by the award- winning Northampton Male Voice Choir, and guest soloist Soprano Emily Haig. The concert will be held at The
Chrysalis Theatre at 7.30pm on Saturday 23rd July. Tickets priced £12 are available from Cambourne Travel, Newport Pagnell or Glynne Thomas 07914 732872. All proceeds will be donated to Willen Hospice, Rotary “End Polio Now” campaign, and local charities.
We are also fund raising to install a public de brillator in Newport Pagnell town centre, and will have collections for Willen Hospice at Dobbies Garden Centre on 30th July, and in Newport Pagnell High Street on 8th August.
Our Club sponsored 32 pupils from Slated Row School, plus their helpers, to take part in the annual Kids Out event at Whipsnade Zoo.
Every year our Club sponsors candidates aged 18 to 30 to take part in the Rotary Young Leader Awards. The local event is a challenging weekend of team building and leadership run by the RAF. Places are still available for 2016 and anyone interested should contact us. Internationally, our Club collects unwanted spectacles and recycles them via Vision Aid Overseas to needy people in developing countries. We also purchase every year a Shelter Box that provides emergency accommodation and essentials for survival after a disaster.
Our Club’s recent social events include a Cheese and Wine evening, a lunch at MK Brasserie, and a trip to Jordan’s Mill.
More information is available from our web page, Facebook page and Twitter. If you are interested in joining Rotary, please contact us by e-mail at rotary.np@btinternet.com or 07785 368101.
