Brilliant. Outstanding. Fantastic. Fabulous.
It’s that time of year again, when Phonebox Foodie can look no further than our Market Place for two days of exceptional food and entertainment. I just love our very own food festival.
So what’s new for 2016?
Urban Grilla
Fast earning a serious street food reputation for themselves, it seems no self respecting food festival around here is not graced with Wolverton based Urban Grilla. Their speciality is very slow cooked (often overnight) barbecued food with a Middle Eastern in uence.
On the menu: The star of the show is most likely the slow cooked BBQ’d pulled lamb shoulder with rosemary and garlic or Moroccan spices. I’ve not yet managed to try this, but a quick scan of their facebook page will leave you in no doubt that this is a bit special. Also on the menu, homemade lamb koftas and halloumi for vegetarians.
All of these dishes will be served with atbreads, baps or couscous and a choice of salads and homemade sauces.
I caught up with Graham and asked what food has inspired him. Unsurprisingly his favourite food is anything properly BBQ’d. But his favourite meal to date is Oxtail & Mussel paella tried in Barcelona last year.
Where else can we nd Urban Grilla? You can visit their facebook page or follow them on twitter @urbangrillabbq to nd out where they will pop up next.
OMG Streetfood
Another slow cook convert, OMG Streetfood started out in 2012 with pimped hotdogs. At BOFF they’ll be serving up grass fed Aberdeen Angus beef burgers sourced from a farm just three miles away. Burgers are attened on the grill, giving a large surface area with maximum caramelisation and a salty crust. Served in a brioche bun, with homemade sides and toppings.
It was one of those holiday moments when you just know there’s more to life that inspired OMG. It started in the back of a pub with a simple hot dog sausage and now they trade regularly at events like BOFF and private events across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire. Their philosophy is simple, keep it local, high quality and indulgent. On the menu is a naked burger, a cheeseburger with Stilton, brie or cheddar, one with a duck egg and black pudding and the worrying Homer burger served in a glazed doughnut. Apparently the sweetness of the doughnut, the meaty burger and the salty bacon balance very well!
You can nd out more about them and where they are trading next on facebook (www.facebook.com/omgstreetfood) or twitter @omgstfood

Who else is new?
Should you be in the need for a carbohydrate x, the Yardley Hastings Belgian Fries outlet is serving up just that, along with Belgian waf es for dessert. Wild Leaf deli are banking on traditional British weather and serving up some gorgeous sounding winter stews including wild fennel and potato stew and an Italian sausage ragu. There are also pasties from Barton Pasty, traditional Thai from Amphawan and a selection of tacos and nachos from Baja.can Cantina.
