Olney T.A.S.K. Karate Club will be raising vital funds So many families are hit with Parkinson’s – in fact
for the charity when they run Punch for Parkinson’s at Ousedale, Olney Campus on Saturday 17th September.
Sue Upton is organising Punch for Parkinson’s to raise awareness of the condition, and to raise vital funds for the charity. The members of the Olney T.A.S.K. Karate Club will be attempting to perform 100 Kata during the afternoon of Saturday 17th September. A Kata is a formal exercise with some similarities to dance, developed by the original founders of karate. They vary in length from 16 movements which takes roughly 30 seconds to the longest of 108 movements taking around ve minutes to perform. So performing 100 consecutive Kata will be quite an achievement. There will also be demonstrations throughout the afternoon by senior members of the club. Refreshments will be on sale as well as a raf e; all to raise extra money for the charity.
every hour someone is told they have the disease – so we wanted to do something to help others in this situation. More research is needed to ght this awful debilitating disease. Please come along and support us. You can also support us by contributing to our just giving page – www.justgiving.com/punch- for-parkinsons.”
Paul Jackson-Clark, Director of Fundraising at Parkinson’s UK, said: “Holding an event like this is a fantastic way to raise vital funds to support our work. As the UK’s Parkinson’s support and research charity we’re leading the work to nd a cure, and we’re closer than ever. But our work is totally dependent on donations. We are incredibly grateful to Olney T.A.S.K. Karate Club, for their support. I hope the event will be a huge success and will encourage others to hold their own events”.
