NP&O Lions were invited to attend this social to meet the youths and support the zone. Each club in our zone had been asked to make a modest donation to cover the cost of the food, drinks, and other expenses.%u00a0It was a real pleasure to meet these young people from all over the world %u2013including France, Spain, Germany, Scandinavia and several Eastern European countries %u2013 even one lad from Mexico %u2013 really nice young people, so polite and friendly (and who all put my meagre foreign language skills to shame!)SERVICE ACTIVITIESBOFF / FOLIO %u2013 %u2018Kids Zone%u2019We helped out at FOLIO%u2019s event by looking after the Lucky Dip stall and selling our temporary tattoos.Message in a Bottle During this period, we delivered another batch of our Message in a Bottle (MIAB) %u2013 this time, to Cobbs Garden Surgery.Hearing Aid RecyclingIn addition to specs, we also recycle hearing aids. The massively infl ated prices some whisky is selling for these days is creating a hype around the product and there are certainly genuine investment possibilities for anyone willing to take a risk with their cash. A new breed of entrepreneur is entering the whisky arena, but unfortunately, so too are less salubrious individuals operating scams aimed at parting people of Olney from their hard earned money. Our Whisky Enthusiast and retired Lion, John Ferris will be hosting the event, on what is driving this interest, the pitfalls, scams and successes of those who have made/lost signifi cant sums in what we are calling, %u2018Investment Times%u2019. We will also be including a %u2018drink the dregs%u2019 evening when the remnants of past events will be %u2018on tap%u2019 along with an appropriate food course in our event which certainly can%u2019t be described as %u2018pie in the sky%u2019! Pop into our Website and follow the links to the Lions Toast for more detailed information and to see what our past events have been like.It should be an interesting and educational night!
