The cancer and neo-natal support charity was looking for premises in Olney and was delighted to fi nd a former hairdresser becoming vacant in the town%u2019s Stanley Court.Guests, including Olney Mayor Debbie Whitworth and Councillor Richard Hillier, joined in for the grand opening when visitors could inspect the new site while enjoying prosecco, snacks and special cakes.%u201cWe had to move offi ces anyway,%u201d said Sara Whatley, who founded Ailsa%u2019s Aim with her husband Niven after she was diagnosed with cancer in 2019.%u201cWe have been in Olney and always wanted to stay in the town. We were looking at expanding, and the best way to service more of the local community was to open a cost-of-living shop as well.%u201dThe charity has partnerships with retailers such as John Lewis, Avon and Dunelm, who donate goods that they can sell at a reduced cost. The money raised from that goes straight back to the charity, which can buy more stock, especially for care packs assembled and distributed to people with a cancer diagnosis or a baby in neo-natal care.Last year Ailsa%u2019s Aim helped 7,000 families %u2013 their biggest year ever %u2013 and expect to surpass that in 2025. %u201cIt has grown so much in fi ve years %u2013 way beyond anything that I could have ever anticipated,%u201d said Sara. %u201cWe have a big group of people who have supported us. Everyone has been brilliant.%u201dMore details on Ailsa%u2019s Aim are here: www.ailsasaim.co.uk.
