Great Brass Band Music
The Olney Brass Band then continued with a varied musical programme, which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone and sounded wonderful across the Glebe.
Country Dancing with the Infants
Olney Infant Academy was next into the Arena with their eagerly awaited Country Dancing. Steve Dunning and his teaching team had, as always, done an excellent job in training their latest group of Country Dancers and the children gave us an excellent display.
Karate - Wow
What a splendid display by Olney T.A.S.K. Karate and Self-Defense Club members which drew many gasps from those watching and left us wondering how they were able to walk away apparently unscathed.
Song and Dance Young Talent
Theatre In Me, directed by Jannine Perryman showed the confidence and abilities of such a talented young group which was a joy to watch and listen to.
Tug-o-War
What a challenge between members of the Rugby Club and all the children still in The Glebe. This was a fantastic competition; the children, with one super human effort, just won the last pull and victory was theirs. Our thanks again go to the Rugby Club Tug-o-War team for being such good sports.
Fun with the Drama Group
Just outside the Arena, David Pibworth’s Drama Group were also delighting us with their Human Fruit Machine and Coconut Shy, which was superbly done and great fun to watch.
A Super Dog Show
With the weather at just the right temperature for an afternoon walk with your dog, Lindsay Heath had a best ever turnout for her Dog Show. Well done and congratulations to the winners of the different categories. Special mention must, however, be given to her large Rhodesian Ridgeback dog, who decided the best place to have a rest was on the table.
Events in St Peter and Paul Church
St. Peter & St. Paul's Church was very much a part of the afternoon and those who went into the Church will have been truly impressed with the activities, plus the opportunity to climb the steep steps for a tour of the Tower and to view the Church Bells, which were installed two years ago.
Cherry Fair: Photo Call Saturday 25 June 2011
What a great day, with the new Church Bells ringing, the Cherry Fair started at 1.00pm and following a stirring fanfare from Olney Brass Band everyone was welcomed by the Rev. Claire Wood, who introduced Olney’s Mayor, Councillor Steve Clark, who officially opened the Fair.
Our Grateful Thanks to All the Church Stallholders and their helpers did a magnificent job and their contributions resulted in an overall income of £4,228.54. Our thanks must go to the many members of local organizations and individuals who worked so hard to make our Cherry Fair a success. We believe around 3,000 people including children have been attending this event each year since 2009. We hope you had a most enjoyable afternoon and thank you for so generously supporting St. Peter & St. Paul’s Church on one of their major fund raising days.
