Lifepath Newton ver 900 primary school pupils will be 0 arriving in Olney from Tuesday May 20th to Thursday May 22nd (300 per day) to participate in Lifepath Newton, an RE trip where the children explore Christian faith through the lifepath of John Newton. A team of around 70 local volunteers will be dressed in period costume and the event will include music , drama , lace and pancakes, as well as the launch of the "freedom " balloons at the Glebe field each day at around 1.40pm. Hosted by local churches, in conjunction with Scripture Union and its partner trusts Bridgebuilder (Milton Keynes) and Impact (Bedford), the event is a great opportunity for the children to discover Newton 's lasting legacy, 250 years after his first sermon in Olney, and, in dynamic ways , to reflect on their own lifepaths . Newport Pagnell Girl Guides n Saturday 1st March, Newport Pagnell District got together for a day of Thinking Day celebrations as 110 Rainbows , Brownies and Guides , as well as some of the senior section and lots of leaders, prepared to travel around the world . The girls travelled to various countries in the morning, doing crafts from each country and having their passport stamped. They visited Holland , England , America, Australia , China, Guatemala, Mexico and Japan . Activities included making cards , worry dolls, flowers , coin rubbing, making cucumber sandwiches, laying a table , totem poles , Chinese lanterns , creating windmills and seeing worldwide coins . After lunch, we had a team building exercise/ competition to make a shelter out of newspaper and sellotape. The girls had to work together and come up with a shelter big enough for them all to fit into. They had great fun doing this and there was newspaper all over the hall -what a mess! Everyone came up with different ideas, with one group simply covering themselves in newspaper and looked like a pile of rubbish. The day concluded with a campfire and the girls all laid pennies out in the shape of the trefoil (they had been shining the pennies in the units). Everyone went home happy and full of their adventures from around the world. We donated £30 to the Thinking Day fund. 12 Phonebox Magazine
