Saracens Champions
"Fifteen Under-12s boys from Olney RFC travelled very early Sunday morning to Saracens to compete in their annual tournament.
It turned out to be the toughest tournament the boys had ever played . With teams such as Saracens , Wasps , Ruislip and Bury St Edmonds, the boys showed great strength and determination along with fantastic teamwork . They became Saracens Tournament Champions! This could not have been achieved without the support of all the parents , so a huge thank you goes out to them . It was a very happy Mothers Day for us mums! " - Sarah Brooks .
Olney Tennis Club
We 've enjoyed our best winter season for many years , and three teams were promoted . These included the new Mixed Bucks Vets, captained by Phil Anderson and they won all their matches , the Mixed A (captained by Eleanor Carter) and the Mixed C (captained by Lynda Baker). Olney entered a record seven teams and many played for the town for the first time.
Olney Tearns' summ er Results Sponsored by Stephen Oakley and Co
This summer season has seen the debut of our Aegon Team, comprised of our coaches and talented juniors. In their first match , they delighted the home crowd with some great tennis and came out convincing 7-1 winners. Olney 's stars were Gavin Fawell , Daniel Cornwell , Xavier Vale-Buisson and Nigel Willard .
In the MK Knockout Cup , there were mixed results , coincidentally all against David Lloyd . The Mens A won thanks to Stephen Bateson , Xavier Vale Buisson , Daniel Cornwell and Freddie Guilmard. The Mens B were beaten by a strong team , despite the efforts of Chris Wright , Simon Barter, Phil Bennett and Les Folds. Finally, the Ladies C were knocked out after a big effort by Jo Walker, Cindy Parker, Anne Bacon and Jill Bradford.
We are running a record 11 teams this season , so expect more than 70 members to play this summer!
