Just Bowling Along

Tt he O l ney Short Mat
I've been given a challenge I couldn 't resist So after some thought , I made a list
It's about the game we love to play
On imitation grass - not on the hay
Thursday seems special to both you and me Come to the centre to play S.M.B
To be with friends is always a pleasure Those I have made I will always treasure
We come each week as health and holidays permit To bowl our woods , helping us to keep fit
We stop for a break around about three
For a chat, a biscuit and a cup of tea
Maybe some magic moments by our talented magician If a spoon player you require , he's your man
Club shirts for players , colour light blue
An emblem fixed on it - that 's being thought thro '
Maybe the church rising above all
Or just a simple small market stall
There must be a dozen things to choose Perhaps a swan with cygnets on the River Ouse
The clock now tells us to call it a day
To clear the hall and pack things away
I wish to say thanks as I end this rhyme To those on our behalf who work overtime So just keep bowling along
Bowling Club recently
held a m idday lunch at the Rose Court Brasserie . Everybody who attended enjoyed the mea l and the occasion. So much, so we all immediate ly
agreed to have a similar event next year.
The club holds regular meetings every Thursday afternoon at the Olney Centre, where teams take part in friendly competition. The enjoyment of these meetings is explained in the follow ing poem written by one of our members, Ron Kightley.
