Alpine Success Ousedale Student becomes U18 Champion
Seventeen year old Ousedale A Level student Lucinda Dilworth recently rocketed to Giant Slalom success to become the U18 British National Champion.
A long season of hard work and dedication culminated with
three podium positions at the British Championships which were held in Tignes, France. Lucinda won the gold medal to become the U18 British National Champion in Giant Slalom and took silver in both the U18 Junior Championships for Slalom and Giant Slalom. These results place Lucinda rmly on the road to her Winter Olympic ambitions.
Lucinda started skiing at the age of three and has been racing since she was ten years old. During the winter season she is based in the French Alps and trains with the British Ski Academy. Lucinda is also a member of the GB Development Group and the England Alpine Squad. When not in the Alps Lucinda trains with Ben Reid Performance Coaching following a daily elite athlete program. When time permits she also manages to visit the local indoor ski facilities (Snozone at Xscape). Throughout the year Lucinda balances her ski ambitions with her academic responsibilities and receives fantastic support from Ousedale 6th Form where she is studying A Levels.
Redway Runners Running club reaches 1000 members
Alittle over five years ago a few running friends got together and decided to form a running club. They came up with the name Redway Runners and decided on the now iconic green as club
colours. Initially, they needed to attract 10 people to join to make it work with a best case scenario of attracting 25 members to offer some type of longevity. So to reach 1,000 members surpasses the founder’s wildest dreams.
The club offer runs and activities to suit just about every sort of runner. Hundreds of beginners have graduated through the regular starter programmes. Running sessions are available throughout the day and

nearly every evening of the week. Track sessions and cross country also feature heavily. In May 2016 the inaugural Redway Runner “Zero to Hero” programme will result in nearly 20 Redway Runners taking part in their rst marathon (Milton Keynes on 2 May). These dedicated individuals have been mentored and supported by the club for nearly a year. Redway Runners also proudly support a “Charity of the Year” (currently “Bravery Boxes”) who receive signi cant support from the club.
The club could not have got to where it is now without the many people who have given up time for free to make the club successful. Thank you to them.
