Squeaky Bone Relay Race
Sunday November 1st
The Olney Runners’ Squeaky Bone relay race is a fun, bone-squeaking relay race. The 3.5 mile event will once again be open to all ability
levels and this year we see the introduction of a new, shorter route (2.3 miles) for age 11-15 runners (aged 15+ can compete in the main race). Each member runs the cross-country route before handing over their Squeaky Bone baton to the next team member. We have professional chip timing this year too! This is not just an event for runners; bring along your support team who can enjoy great home-made cakes, with all profits going to the Olney-Newton link charity; refreshments from Shaun’s Café; hot breakfast food from the Robin Hood pub; sports massage provided by Martin Birch Fitness; a whole lot of squeaking, general frivolity and, of course, the awards’ ceremony.
Since its inception in 2010, the Squeaky Bone Relay Race has grown from 15 teams to last year’s record 62 teams, which saw 248 people all completing the undulating cross country route on Mike Davies’ private farm land. The success has come as a result
each year, the generosity of Mike in letting us trample over his land and the support of many local running clubs, including: Bedford Harriers; Redway Runners and Wellingborough District AC. BUT you don’t have to be a member of a club to take part! Teams of friends, work colleagues and family are all welcome.... So, here’s to helping us achieve this year’s target of attracting 100 teams!
If all the bone squeaking fun isn’t enough there will be post-race baked potatoes and chilli back at the Robin Hood pub marquee which we hope everyone will join in with. Find and like us on Facebook to keep up to date with all pre-race activity: Olney Runners’ Squeaky Bone Race.
